Job Description
|
Be the technical lead for UNIX (Solaris, AIX, Linux) and Storage solutions supporting both internal and external customers
Identify, understand and resolve broader architectural problems in the infrastructure
Provide leadership and mentoring to other members of the team
Work on both day to day administration tasks as well as major long-term infrastructure and storage projects (projects include Linux migration, storage and server consolidation, integration of major technologies, etc.)
Perform automation tasks using various tools including scripting
Maintain a secure environment and provide maximum system availability in a 7x24 environment
Look beyond the technology to identify areas of potential improvement in the organization and the business
Work closely with other operational and business groups to manage work load and priorities
Install and maintain large scale enterprise servers
Install and maintain hardware and software associated with storage sub-systems
Maintain third party software including various operating systems and applications
Ensure operating systems are kept up to required patch levels
Monitor, maintain and increase system performance reporting
Participate in Internal information sessions
Requirements:
7+ years UNIX Administration in a multi-platform UNIX environment: Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, Red Hat
Experience in storage setup and administration, preferably on EMC Clariion and Sun storage. Dot Hill and Winchester experience a plus
Excellent learning and troubleshooting skills
Ability to maintain hardware and software in a 7x24 environment
Should have experience with the installation, tuning, and configuration of the above platforms
Knowledge of NIS+, DNS, NFS and Automounter
Scripting skills to maintain and create automated tasks a plus, preferably with experience in shell and Perl
Should have an understanding of RAID storage
Knowledge of the Veritas Volume Manager a plus
Sun, Red Hat or EMC Certifications a plus
Project management experience a plus
Team leadership experience a plus
Windows and related application experience a plus, but not required
